Hardcore and metal fans alike flocked to fill the Forum in Melbourne on a crisp Thursday night to welcome Californian metalcore titans The Ghost Inside.
Adelaide hardcore legends Day Of Contempt opened the night up in fine fashion, delivering their trademark groovy brand of toe tapping, two stepping mosh goodness. Always a pleasure to behold, they were the perfect start to a well rounded night of heavy music, satisfying old fans, no doubt winning some new ones, and most certainly ensuring the crowd was nice and warm by the end of their set, ready for a great night ahead.
Joining them all the way from Glasgow, Scotland, were Bleed From Within. Touring Australia for the very first time in their 20 year career, they showed us that they meant business from start to finish. Filling the set with chaotic riffs, screams that could cut through concrete, and some of the heaviest double kicks ever known to humankind, it was clear that we were getting the full Bleed From Within experience and that time hadn't slowed this powerhouse down one single bit.
From the get go, the The Ghost Inside exploded with electric intensity, which didn't let up for the entirety of their 1hr & 15 min set filled with old classics, new favourites, and everything in between. It's no wonder that these folks have stuck around for so long, a crushing display of tight riffage, huge choruses, positive energy, and many a singalong. Lead singer Jonathan vigil commanded the crowd masterfully, the whole band feeding off the crowd's energy and sending it right back. The love this band has felt from fans on the opposite end of the globe was not lost on them, with some beautiful sentiments shared in some quiet moments in between the chaos.
