Ville Valo Announces Australian & NZ Tour for March 2024
Overflowing with charisma and gothic allure, Ville Valo captivates audiences both on and off the stage. He skillfully weaves together melodic beauty and melancholic depth, embodying the essence of Johnny Cash, The Sisters Of Mercy, and Elvis, combined with the lyrical elegance reminiscent of Lovecraft, Poe, and Bukowski. Truly a unique artist in every sense.
Being an original talent is no small feat, and creating an entire genre is nearly impossible. However, Valo achieved just that with his band HIM, emerging from the land of the midnight sun and enchanting the world with a captivating blend of dark rock anthems and emotionally charged ballads.
His distinctive baritone five-octave crooner voice sets him apart, whether he's making classic Chris Isaak and Neil Diamond songs his own or pouring his heart into HIM's hymns like "Funeral Of Hearts," "Right Here In My Arms," or "Wings of A Butterfly." Notably, VVN Music has ranked him with the eighth-highest vocal range among known popular music singers, and Loudwire considers Valo one of the greatest frontmen of the 21st century.
Valo's evolution from the vampiric leader of HIM to the solo artist now known as VV is beautifully represented by HIM's iconic Heartagram logo—a gift to the world from Valo on his 20th birthday. This iconic image perfectly captures the essence of the music, with the heart symbolizing its softer side, and the pentagram conveying its darker, heavier elements.
In VV's solo journey, the Heartagram has been subtly updated, featuring two extra lines forming the moniker VV at its core. Ville playfully remarks that this exquisite line is the primary artistic difference between HIM and VV.
VV's debut solo album, "Neon Noir," released in early 2023, further showcases his storytelling prowess and his masterful ability to balance darkness and light.
During his select shows, VV mesmerizes the audience with a perfect mix of solo and HIM songs. Metal Wani captured the mood of the London show in March of this year, as the house lights dimmed, enveloping the venue in haunting emptiness. Strands of pink and purple lights illuminate the stage, revealing the bright, cold heartagram, now featuring the updated VV at its core. As Ville Valo takes the stage, the reception is akin to a hero's welcome. He delivers a holistic set that spans his entire career, leaving our jet-black hearts deeply moved.
