It’s hard to beat a summer evening at one of the most iconic places on the planet. For me, this was my first time seeing a show at the Opera House forecourt, and it truly didn’t disappoint.

Kicking the night off was Brooklyn rapper and pro skateboarder Sage Gabriel Carlos Atreyu Elsesser—better known as Navy Blue. Sage’s smooth delivery and chilled brand of hip hop couldn’t have been a better vibe as we hit golden hour.

With the sun setting, a huge full moon rising, and the sold-out crowd finally packed in after battling Sydney’s traffic this afternoon, the energy was set.

Loyle Carner and his incredible band hit the stage to a deafening applause, ebbing and flowing through a setlist filled with everything you’d hope to hear. This included “all i need,” “in my mind,” “Ain't Nothing Changed,” “Damselfly,” and “Desoleil (Brilliant Corners),” along with crowd favourites like “horcrux,” “Homerton,” “Nobody Knows (Ladas Road),” and “purpose.”

Loyle’s infectious flow was complemented by some truly incredible sound—and you’d expect nothing less when you’re sitting on the steps of the Opera House
