Cryptopsy returned to Melbourne with something raw and unfiltered — a rare chance to experience the full, suffocating weight of None So Vile brought to life inside The Croxton. Three decades on, the band remain a benchmark for technical death metal, and this performance was less a nostalgia run and more a reminder of just how brutal, precise, and alive this music still is.

With WRITHING and MUNT setting the tone in all the right ways — one cold and dissonant, the other feral and confrontational — the room was already primed long before Cryptopsy took the stage. What followed was a relentless, breathless descent into chaos and control, where every blast beat and every fractured riff landed with surgical intent, leaving the crowd battered, ecstatic, and completely spent.
